Rugby Linux Users Group is an active and growing group who share an interest in free and open source software and hardware, and who are based in and around Rugby in the UK. From novice to expert, we welcome everyone with an interest in Linux and open source!

Meetings

 

We meet as a group for technical/social meetings on the second Monday of each month (except Bank Holidays). All meetings are held in the centre of Rugby and are free to attend.

Software Freedom Day 2013: Sat 12th October

 

On Saturday October 12th, 2013 Rugby Linux Users Group held its annual Software Freedom Day event to promote the benefits of software freedom to the local community.

Running from 12pm - 4pm at the Lawrence Sheriff School (Clifton Road, Rugby, CV21 3AG) the event featured a variety of hands-on workshops, displays and presentations. We hope to hold several workshops including hardware hacking with the Arduino and Raspberry Pi, Scratch programming, information on setting up a Code Club in your school. As in previous years, a wide variety of software was available to available to try out, and visitors could take away free CDs of free and open source software for Windows and Linux.

Local specialists working in the business and education sectors were on hand throughout the afternoon to offer guidance and answer any questions visitors may have had.

Mailing List

 

The Rugby LUG mailing list is the first port of call for information on upcoming group events and for discussion between members. The list is not high volume and all LUG members are encouraged to sign up.

Technical Library

 

The group is a member of the O'Reilly User Group programme, and we may be able to get review copies of recent O'Reilly publications in exchange for user reviews and feedback. We can also get discounts on new purchases for members.
